Anti-wrinkle treatment is a safe and effective treatment to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment is safe, quick and simple. Small amounts of toxin are injected under the skin, this causes lines and wrinkles to fade and soften, resulting in a refreshed, younger looking you.
Anti-wrinkle treatment is produced from a toxin that is derived from the bacterium clostridium botulinum type A. The injections essentially block the chemical signals from nerves that are responsible for muscle contraction. Small amounts are injected into specific muscles and as a result temporarily relaxes the muscles that are responsible for causing lines and wrinkles. This allows the overlying skin to repair resulting in a smooth – young wrinkle free appearance.
To ensure you are a good candidate, a full consultation is carried out prior to any treatment. The consultation will discuss treatment choice, contraindications, expectations, risks, benefits, alternatives, side effects, post treatment advice and you will be able to ask any questions you may have. Unfortunately, not all are suitable for this treatment; for example, if your lines are very deep and cannot be removed by alone, you may benefit from another treatment or advised to use a combination of treatments. All of this will be discussed with your practitioner to create a treatment plan individual to you.
Forehead
Forehead wrinkles can be treated with a neurotoxin injection, such as Botox, which temporarily paralyzes the muscle and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. The injection is usually placed in a few key areas of the forehead to smooth out wrinkles.
Frown lines
Frown lines, also known as "11" lines, can also be treated with a neurotoxin injection like Botox. The injection is placed between the eyebrows to relax the muscles that cause the lines.
Crow's feet
Crow's feet are the wrinkles that appear at the corners of the eyes. They can be treated with a neurotoxin injection or a filler injection, depending on the depth of the wrinkles. Neurotoxin injections work by relaxing the muscle that causes the wrinkles, while fillers work by filling in the wrinkles and plumping up the skin.
Nasolabial folds
Nasolabial folds are the deep wrinkles that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth. They can be treated with a filler injection, which plumps up the skin and fills in the wrinkles.
Lips
Lip lines or wrinkles around the mouth can be treated with a filler injection, which can add volume to the lips and smooth out the wrinkles. In some cases, a neurotoxin injection may also be used to relax the muscles around the mouth.
Providing you are a good candidate for this treatment, the procedure is done within minutes. You can return to normal activities and there is no down time. Slight discomfort can be experienced due to small insulin needles being used – but there is no pain. Results are noticeable within 2-3 days and peak result can be seen on the 14th day. Follow up reviews are done at 2+ weeks to review toxin activation, balance and to ensure maximum results and patient care.
On average results last 2-4 months, however longevity is significantly individual and last longer in some patients and less in another. Various factors can affect longevity, but ultimately longevity is unique per individual and results are temporary. Treatment peak is 6-8 weeks; between this time results will begin to soften/loosen – this is normal). Treatment can be done every 12 weeks minimum.
